Immerse yourself in some epic Hauraki Gulf views from the comfort of the couch and use the XSPOT as a base for Great Barrier Island exploration! This spacious and light modern eco-apartment has stunningly wide views from Coromandel to the Whangarei Heads. Some guests say it feels like you are 'in the view'.

Your hosts, Hilde and Roger, built their architect-designed house in 2010-2012 with a team of local builders. It contains their living quarters and the attached but fully self contained apartment. The resulting XSPOT is a comfortable eco-house, run on solar power and fire wood. Think tiny carbon footprint. The onsite pool with a view is heated by the sun only, so more suited to use in summer, or with a wet suit.

In addition to its amazing location, you'll also have the benefit of your local hosts living on site, almost like a concierge service. 😉

And while you are in the Dark Sky Sanctuary of Great Barrier Island... XSPOT has a clear view of the sky: a great location for a private Good Heavens stargazing experience, a service that is weather and availability dependent.

You'll find XSPOT in a remote 4WD location. Its solitude is perfect for a retreat, a honeymoon, a babymoon or a special long weekend away for your loved one and you!
Due to its absolute cliff top location, XSPOT is less suitable for school aged children, but great for parents with a baby or a small toddler. A portacot is available on site.
